Grammar School (Kindergarten - 6th)
During the Grammar phase, children are particularly adept at memorization. Young children learn songs, rhymes, and recite facts with relative ease. We challenge them by providing substantial subject matter for them to memorize. Each subject has its own grammar. In science, children study facts about nature. In math, children memorize multiplication tables. In Latin, teachers emphasize vocabulary. Throughout each year in Grammar School, classically educated children learn the factual foundation of each subject.
The grammar years hit the sweet spot of developing a love for learning and molding diligent students who listen well, respect their teachers and peers, and enthusiastically work to their God-given potential. Every subject has a language, or grammar, which becomes the foundation of building blocks for the next two phases of the Trivium.
