Haw River Christian Academy was founded in 2007 by a small group of local parents who were seeking alternative education options for their children.  They were introduced to the classical Christian education model and were immediately drawn to the facets of its challenging and rigorous academics, its teaching methods that complement child development, and its blending of biblical teaching and values throughout all subjects.  They were also extremely impressed with the success of these type of schools across the nation.  

As they absorbed various authors' works about classical Christian education, a central theme began to surface, which addressed the heart of their desire and vision.  This type of education is not a luxury, or simply an option, but rather a biblical mandate according to Deuteronomy 6:4-7 and Ephesians 6:4.  This group of parents accepted and embraced the commitment and responsibility to raise their children with a biblical worldview in a school environment, not just within the walls of home or church.  

God planted the seed in their hearts and equipped them to establish such a school in Chatham County, North Carolina.  It is the first private Christian school in the Pittsboro area and its testimony is a blessing to all who are involved.
